SVOD Europeans 2010

Fine balmy weather with light winds greeted the SVOD sailors as they gathered on the deck at the Club for two days of racing over the weekend of 10 / 11 July.

All were eager to get started as can be seen from the concentration on faces as the Class listens intently to their Captain William Edwards before the racing.

SVOD WInter Drinks Party - Were you there?

SVOD PRE-SEASON NEWSLETTER

The Seaview Dinghy Class is in good heart. The Committee met in London on Tuesday 12 January to begin organising the 2010 season which we intend to be a marvellous pageant of colour, conviviality and competition played out against the spectacular backdrop of the eastern Solent. For those not in the cast, ringside seats will be available in the Yacht Club, on the Esplanade, Seagrove Bay and Priory Bay. There are circle seats available for all those who live slightly up the hill and enjoy views of the sea. All seats are complimentary to members of the Sea View Yacht Club.

The Class and its friends meet for our London Winter Drinks Party at Imperial Wharf SW6 on Thursday 4th February. The party is open to Class members and their guests and tickets can be purchased through the Club office from Michele.

Michael Warren is hard at work refurbishing a fine and pedigree Seaview Dinghy that the Class has bought. The Dinghy is Pandemonium, number 47 and she was built in 1939. The purpose of this is to provide a Seaview Dinghy for Club Members who may wish to try out Seaview Dinghy sailing. Pandemonium will be available for short term charter throughout the season at very moderate rates. Details will be sent out to all Club members in the spring. This is a fine opportunity for those members of the Club who as yet have been spectators of the Dinghy fleet but have always wanted to try their hand. We have three fleets. Our Amber Fleet for experienced competitors, our Victory Fleet for those who finding their way or who prefer a smaller fleet and our Cadet Fleet for those under 18 to have their own race - something for everyone and no launching involved!

I am writing to you from my office in London with four inches of snow covering the Capital and sailing Seaview Dinghies on balmy summer days off Seaview is a thought that warms my heart. May it give you a little cheer too.

I wish all members of the Yacht Club a very happy, healthy and successful 2010.

With my best wishes,

William Edwards
